YTTERSTONE® sandstone is extracted from natural, sediment-grown layers. In the case of degradation, approximately three millimeters of elastic webs are formed, which subsequently can be glued and sealed in many areas. The special appearance of the sandstone surface and the natural properties of the sandstone, such as the antistatic effect, are retained.

The special appearance of the sandstone surface and the natural properties of the sandstone, such as the antistatic effect, are retained. In addition to the mined mined sandstone, YTTERSTONE® has developed a manufacturing process for the artificial production of a particularly thin flexible sandstone. This so-called sandstone wallpaper can be produced in various color combinations and decors. Customized color variations can also be produced according to customer requirements.
The history of the flexible sandstone from YTTERSTONE®
The construction engineer, Heiko Neupert, had the vision to convert sandstone grown over millions of years into a flexible and easy-to-use, novel building material. After years of testing in 2000 the market introduction of YTTERSTONE® Sandstone. In the same year the product was registered as a European patent. In 2004, Heiko Neupert won the great inventor prize at the 37th International Inventory Fair in Geneva with his new flexible sandstone. Subsequently, YTTERSTONE®'s flexible sandstone was launched.
In the following years the development of a new production process began, with which particularly thin, flexible sandstone layers can be produced artificially. The development of the manufacturing process has been completed since 2015 and the marketing of the so-called YTTERSTONE® sandstone wallpaper has already begun. In 2016, the YTTERSTONE® Sandstone was awarded the Federal Prize for outstanding innovative achievements for craftsmen at the International Handicrafts Fair in Munich.
